The Draft "Expert" - Wk 4 Quarterback Prospect Rankings

Another week of games, yet another quarterback prospect rankings list. Before we get started, I'd like to say there's not a ton different between this weeks and last weeks, but it's definetely still worth the read.

Where will the pre-season top two come into play? Will Rattler keep getting booed? Will Howell bounce back? What can we expect from Corral against the number one team in the nation? Time will tell. For now, take a gander and look through the week four prospect rankings!

Pictured: Sam Howell, North Carolina; Matt Corral, Ole Miss; Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma

1. Malik Willis, Liberty

Wk 4 - 14/19 205 yds 3 touchdowns 0 interceptions/17 carries 49 yds 0 touchdowns @ Syracuse (24-21 L)

Season - 63/88 818 yds 10 touchdowns 0 interceptions/51 carries 274 yds 4 touchdowns

  • Though Liberty lost this past Friday to Syracuse, that doesn't mean Malik Willis still shouldn't be the number one quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft. Despite the loss, Willis played well, and played well despite facing a top 10 defense on the road. Willis has the broadest skillset out of anyone in this draft class and he'll stay here at the number one spot unless he puts together a horror show of a performance. I'm excited to see what Willis does throughout the rest of the season.

  • Pre-Season - 3*

  • Wk 1 - 2

  • Wk 2 - 2

  • Wk 3 - 1

  • Wk 4 - 1

  • Wk 5 - @ UAB

2. Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma

Wk 4 - 26/36 256 yds 1 touchdown 1 interception/9 carries 0 yds 0 touchdowns v West Virginia (16-13 W)

Season - 100/135 1,017 yds 8 touchdowns 3 interceptions/27 carries 71 yds 2 touchdowns

  • Something is off with Spencer Rattler this season and I'm not 100% sure what it is. It's not that he is a terrible quarterback or is playing horrific but if you look at the expectations for Rattler coming in to the season, he has been playing way below what people expected. Rattler was the heavy favorite for both the Heisman and the number one overall pick, now, no one's sure. I think most people will keep him in the top two or three of their draft rankings (apart from OU fans, apparently), as far as Heisman goes, I'm not so sure. I think Rattler will get better as the season progresses but for now, he's not even scratching his ceiling. He has all the talent in the world, he just needs to put it all together.

  • Pre-Season - 1*

  • Wk 1 - 1

  • Wk 2 - 1

  • Wk 3 - 2

  • Wk 4 - 2

  • Wk 5 - @ Kansas State

3. Matt Corral, Ole Miss (+1)

Wk 4 - BYE

Season - 66/96 997 yds 9 touchdowns 0 interceptions/33 carries 158 yds 5 touchdowns

  • Matt Corral didn't play on Saturday, but with the season he's had up until this point and Howell's not so great game against Georgia Tech, Corral has to move up at least one spot. To some, he's the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he did win the damn thing. As far as the number one quarterback spot though, that remains to be seen. If he keeps up this level of play the rest of the season, he may be the number one quarterback in 2022. A good game against Alabama on the road would do a lot for him in both the Heisman and Draft conversation.

  • Pre-Season - 8*

  • Wk 1 - 6

  • Wk 2 - 5

  • Wk 3 - 4

  • Wk 4 - 3

  • Wk 5 - @ no.1 Alabama

4. Sam Howell, North Carolina (-1)

Wk 4 - 25/39 306 yds 2 touchdowns 0 interceptions/16 carries 8 yds 0 touchdowns @ Georgia Tech (45-22 L)

Season - 77/121 1,173 yds 11 touchdowns 4 interceptions/55 carries 259 yds 3 touchdowns

  • Like Rattler, Sam Howell looks really off this season. Going into this game, UNC was coming off two fairly easy wins against Georgia State and an insanely one dimensional team in Virginia with a terrible defense. Georgia Tech, on the other hand, is coming off a game where they lost to the then ninth ranked team by six on the road, so it would've been safe to assume GT would have a down game after exerting a lot of energy trying to beat a team that beat them by 66 points last season. Let's just say this, that must've been what North Carolina did because they got the absolute piss beaten out of them by the Yellow Jackets. For a team that started in the top 10, losing by 23 to anybody is unacceptable. Howell played bad, and though he may not have thrown any interceptions, he did fumble three times, with one of them almost getting returned for a touchdown. The only thing keeping Howell from dropping any further is that neither of the next two QBs played last week, heck, even the one that passed him didn't play, but there's no denying it, at this point in time, Corral is out playing Howell.

5. Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati

Wk 4 - BYE

7. Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA

Wk 4 - 18/29 251 yds 2 touchdowns 0 interceptions/16 carries 30 yds 2 touchdowns @ Stanford (35-24 W)

Season - 51/89 919 yds 9 touchdowns 1 interception/45 carries 118 yds 2 touchdowns

  • DTR had himself a very nice game against the Stanford Cardinal, a team that is partially responsible for Kedon Slovis dropping out of the top 10. Four total touchdowns and no turnovers, very impressive performance, especially coming off a tough loss to Fresno State. This week will be another test for DTR and the Bruins as they take on Arizona State and another top 10 quarterback. DTR has all the tools to be a top tier QB, but for now he'll stay at seven.

  • Pre-Season - 13*

  • Wk 1 - H/M

  • Wk 2 - 10

  • Wk 3 - 7

  • Wk 4 - 7

  • Wk 5 - v Arizona State

8. JT Daniels, Georgia

Wk 4 - 9/10 129 yds 2 touchdowns 0 interceptions/0 caries 0 yds 0 touchdowns @ Vanderbilt (62-0 W)

Season - 54/71 567 yds 5 touchdowns 2 interceptions/3 carries -15 yds 0 touchdowns

  • JT Daniels and Georgia put on a show Saturday against Vanderbilt, throwing for two touchdowns and only missing on one pass. Yet another fairly simple game for Georgia's offense as this is the third straight game scoring over 40 points, with the last two results coming against SEC opponents. Now, Daniels isn't necessarily showing off his mobility what so ever, but he keeps showing off as a passer and is still undefeated as Georgia's starting quarterback. I'm still not the biggest JT Daniels fan, but he is playing well. This week will be a big test as they take on a top 10 ranked Arkansas team coming off a very nice win over Texas A&M.

  • Pre-Season - 7*

  • Wk 1 - 8

  • Wk 2 - H/M

  • Wk 3 - 8

  • Wk 4 - 8

  • Wk 5 - v no.8 Arkansas

9. Kenny Pickett, Pitt

Wk 4 - 24/28 403 yds 5 touchdowns 0 interceptions/5 carries 6 yds 1 touchdown v New Hampshire (77-7 W)

Season - 98/132 1,342 yds 15 touchdowns 1 interception/30 carries 121 yds 2 touchdowns

  • Kenny Pickett has had a very productive year for the Pitt Panthers. Out of everyone in the top 10, Pickett has the most passing yards (1,342) and the most passing touchdowns (15), which are not only tops on this list, but also rank near the top in the nation. That touchdown number, 15, tops his previous best in regards to passing touchdowns, 13. This week will be big for Pickett, as he's playing a Georgia Tech team that made both DJU and Sam Howell struggle against them. If he can have another big week, he could keep moving up this list.

  • Pre-Season - 16*

  • Wk 1 - N/R

  • Wk 2 - N/R

  • Wk 3 - 9

  • Wk 4 - 9

  • Wk 5 - @ Georgia Tech

10. Jayden Daniels, Arizona State

Wk 4 - 18/25 236 yds 0 touchdowns 0 interceptions/7 carries 75 yds 2 touchdowns v Colorado (35-13 W)

Season - 69/95 808 yds 2 touchdowns 3 interceptions/36 carries 248 yds 2 touchdowns

  • Jayden Daniels has had a hard time finding the end zone through the air this season for the Sun Devils. Through four games this season, Daniels has tossed only two touchdowns with three interceptions, which is not ideal, but the talent is definitely there. In games against UNLV and most recently Colorado, you see the athletic ability that makes Daniels really special. Once he gets more consistent in the passing game, Daniels could move up the list. But for now, he finds himself at 10 for the third time this season.

  • Pre-Season - 9*

  • Wk 1 - 10

  • Wk 2 - 7

  • Wk 3 - 10

  • Wk 4 - 10
